According to the Notification on Optimizing the Prevention and Control Measures Against COVID-19 for More Scientific and Targeted Practice released by China National Health Commission on Nov.11,2022, we see three major adjustments as below:
1. All passengers arriving from overseas will undergo 5 days of centralized quarantine plus 3 days of home, or hotel-based isolation, compared with the current protocol of 7 days of centralized isolation plus 3 days of self-isolation. It also stipulates that inbound travelers should not be placed into isolation again after finishing required quarantine periods at their first points of entry.
2. The circuit-breaker mechanism, which bans flight routes if inbound international flights carry COVID-19 cases, will be canceled.
3. Inbound travelers will only need to provide 1, rather than 2, negative nucleic acid testing results taken 48 hours before boarding.
